Files

A file we can approve is part of the delivery offer.

Free next-morning hand delivery waits on print-ready file approval, along with production availability. These notes are how to get the PDF close. The quote confirms anything that is still a judgment.

File upload is not available. Do not attach documents on this site. Nothing is stored.

01

Send one PDF

A single PDF, with one finished page per PDF page, is the file that quotes cleanly. Name it with the project and the date.

If the cover is a separate file, label it as the cover. Do not leave the cover unlabeled in the middle of the text.

02

Keep reading order

Export single pages in the order a reader turns them. We impose saddle-stitched booklets from that order.

If a file is already imposed as printer spreads, say so in the notes. An imposed file that is treated as reading order will print in the wrong sequence.

03

Embed the fonts

Embed or outline fonts before you send the PDF. A missing font substitutes on press and changes the line endings.

We do not need your source layout for a quote if the PDF is final. If the type still has to be set, say that plainly.

04

Bleed only where art hits the trim

Pages with a white margin do not need bleed. If a color or a photograph runs to the edge, build in bleed.

0.125 inch is the usual request. If your file uses something else, leave it and we will confirm it on the quote rather than you rebuilding on a guess.

05

Protect the binding edge

Coil, wire, and comb are punched. Three-ring binders are punched. Keep type, page numbers, and faces out of that edge.

The clear distance depends on the binding and the size. Each product page says what to watch. The quote confirms the number for your job.

06

Say which pages are color

Choose black and white, color, or mixed on the specification. For mixed jobs, the notes should say which pages are color.

If a color has to match a swatch or a previous job, say that. We do not publish a color-matching certification.

07

Photographs

A photograph that looks soft at the printed size will print soft. Preparing images near 300 pixels per inch at final size is the usual guidance.

That is preparation advice, not a measured promise about a particular press.

08

Leave the file openable

Do not send a password-protected PDF. We cannot quote a file we cannot open.

Crop marks are useful when the trim is smaller than the sheet. They are noise on a file that is already at final trim with no bleed.
